I fished the East Branch of the Housatonic, just below the Crane Paper Mill dam in Dalton, for about 45 minutes this morning.
It was a hassle getting down to the river because the self-storage area on Depot Street has put up a fence (what's up with that?), so I had to go down a block to Centennial Avenue to get down the bank and then work my way back up to the dam, but once I got there it was worth it.
The water was low so all the fish were crowded up next to the dam (which has some deep holes below it), and they were so plentiful that it was almost like a fish chowder. There were brookies, browns and rainbows, running from 8 to 14 inches.
