Hello Members
Wetlands are an essential componet of our ecosystem. They provide vital natural storage areas which act to reduce flood flows, help recharge our groundwater and aquifer, filter sediments and pollutants such as phosphates and nitrates from drainage runoff, and are a habitat themselves rich in wildlife and vegetation. As responsible citizens we must be aware of our wetland area, and implement whatever protective measures necessary to preserve and protect them we should do. ;D

A new WaterWatch organizer is becoming active at MCLA and will hopefully coordinate with TU regarding a river cleanup being organized for the spring. This cleanup is not to be confused with the one the City of North Adams organizes with MCLA in conjunction with Earth Day festivities. Hopefully, this will be a busy spring. Don't forget, we should have an outreach table at HooRWA's River Festival and possibly HooRWA's State of the River Conference. Last year the conference was held in Adams and was well attended and organized.
